CHRISTMAS 2008
The following is my interpretation of information I have gleaned from reading books such as “The Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” and “The World Is As You Dream It”, both authored by John Perkins, and A New Earth by Eckart Tolle, along with my own intuitive sense of things.
During this Christmas season, I wish for you self love, the type which is deep enough to allow you to see your own spiritual perfection as you are right now. As this love emanates from you, you can see the spiritual perfection in all that is around you. This will be reflected in the spiritual perfection of the chaos that we as humans are experiencing on the planet. The global events that are unfolding, while seemingly chaotic and catastrophic to all of us in so many ways, can be held in awe as we see the spiritual perfection of evolution.
See the perfection in what we would label as personal flaws or shortcomings, for they are our gatekeepers, guideposts and teachers for the journey we have mapped out for ourselves.
The current global situation is one such guidepost that we have been given by the universe in response to requests by smaller groups through the ages that have, during great times of human self-destruction and peril such as the Holocaust, World Wars, The Crusades, AIDS and other diseases, asked, “Can we not learn to love one another and live in peace?” The answer is yes. Not only can we learn to love one another and live in peace, but we MUST learn to love one another TO live in peace.
To accomplish this, we will need to own our own divine power, the core of love from which all life in every form has its seed. That requires us to own and feel our power. One of the steps to being who we are spiritually is to recognize how we give our power away. This occurs in everyday interactions where we are not in integrity with who we truly are. For eons, we have lived in dysfunctional relationships with fellow human beings, being it poor marriages, enabling relationships, dysfunctional families or countries (remembering of course that these are just labels and they in themselves are perfect for us). This extends out to every facet of our lives. We give power to authority figures, churches, politicians, banks, global merchants and so on, all to avoid actually taking responsibility for our own power. None of these institutions are negative in themselves; they only feed off of what we have fed them, our own power.
Now in this global economic downturn, we are seeing the connection and domino effect that one thing has on another, and that WE are holding the first domino!! What an incredible gift and tool if used to move from victim to an empowered being who has the opportunity to be in awe of, and humbled by, being present during a time when humanity can change the direction of the planet from one of yours and mine, to one of OURS!!, from a We and Them, to US!! The power IS ours if we choose to own it.
1. Some time ago, a friend sent me a copy of a speech given by the CEO and founder of Macintosh Computers, entitled “Connecting the Dots”, Motivational speech by Steve Jobs - CEO, Apple — LearnHub. In this speech, he shared how one can only look back and connect the dots and never forward to connect them. He then proceeded to share how he saw this working in his own life. It was very moving and inspiring.
I have used this theory several times in presentations. As we look at our history over just the last 100 years from a spiritually evolutional point of view, connecting the dots becomes quite evident. Two World Wars, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, just to mention a few, created mass destruction. People rallied behind governments to support the World Wars. As time progressed this support waned as attitudes changed and protesters took to the streets demanding change and an end to war. John Lennon’s declaration to “make love, not war”, while seemingly radical and very misinterpreted in it’s time, was an actual spiritual truth and a path we were on, even then.
The Holocaust, while in itself a terrible tragedy, is an incredible spiritual awakening tool that the universe handed us. Hitler was intent on annihilating anyone he saw as lesser than himself. Do we not do this to each of our fellow human beings every time we judge, ridicule, or berate them? (oops, I just saw a mirror!!).
As I mentioned above, during these occurrences of violence on the planet such as the wars, presidential and leader assassinations, racial riots, famine and poverty, small groups everywhere were asking themselves the question “Can we not learn to love one another and live in peace?” The universe said “Yes you can and here is a tool. You will call it AIDS”. AIDS is the first disease on the planet that made us look at the taboo of sexuality and all that it entails. It brought IV drug use to the forefront because of transmission of the disease through sharing needles and works. Eventually AIDS forced us to look at Africa and the rest of the world and realize that we are all connected and responsible for one another, no matter what our beliefs. What an incredible tool the universe gave us to awaken to who we truly are, beings that are connected to each other and to every aspect of this planet we call earth and beyond.
Still, we struggled with our judgments and with our separation of “us” and “them”. As we are all painfully aware, on September 11th, 2001, The World Trade Center in New York was destroyed. The global symbol of affluence and power crumbled in moments to an act of extreme violence that brought terrorism, an act we associated with “people over there” to our own doorstep. Can it be a coincidence that this act occurred on 9-11 and that we utilize 911 for emergency calls? I doubt it. We are begging to awaken to who we are spiritually, and the universe is giving us every opportunity to do so, and will continue to support us in that awakening.
The pain and loss from all these events is not to be diminished here, but to be lifted to the light. My own belief system and I understand that it may not be yours, is that these events are all in divine order. A soul cannot be destroyed. Only the vehicle that the soul has chosen to journey in at a particular period in time can be damaged or destroyed, and always for the higher good or lesson for the soul and those who share that path. In this light then, I have to see the people who experienced death due to the Holocaust, AIDS and 9-11, just to mention a few of the events that have occurred in the world, as our willing teachers on a soul level. They are saying “Look what we are doing to each other on all levels - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is insanity that we have embraced and insanity that must be released.”
And so now we are being forced to look at our attachment to material things. The global economic situation is a direct result of our values being placed on a “false god”. WE judge ourselves and others by what we or they have and not by whom we are. We have been driven to attain bigger houses, cars, bank accounts, to look younger, have bigger breasts, penis’s, to be thinner, have more things, use more natural resources, and to even destroy natural resources under the pretense of creating cleaner and more renewable resources (I just had to get that in here). While I am aware of my own fear and anxiety over all these things, I also can, on occasion, see a glimmer of hope and am in awe that I have the opportunity to witness in my lifetime a major global awakening. We are in the fire, and as the mighty Phoenix, will no doubt rise from the ashes, stronger, wiser, and more resilient than ever before. We are here to evolve, not dissolve.
And so I wish for you this Christmas season the deepest self love.
With Love and Respect
Gregory
